FF : I Can’t Let Her Go! Part 45

Arnav sat in bed waiting.

The police were forwarding the video footage to him…

His nerves were alert…

The only sounds around him were the breeze outside, and the gentle breaths coming from his sleeping wife…

He reached over, brushed her hair from her forehead…

That very second she started to stir…

Rolling over, she looked up at him…

Arnav leaned over and kissed her softly on the lips…

As he was about to pull away, he felt her lips quiverring…

He pulled back to look at her…tears were spilling from the corners of her eyes…

“Khushi?”

She brought up her hand to cup his face, ran a thumb along his cheekbone, pressed her lips together, but still they quivered.

Her shaky emotions killed him… goddamn killed him.

“Khushi, sweetheart. Please don’t cry.”

She shook her head…and sat up to move closer to him…

“Are you okay? Are you in pain? headache? anything?” she said, concern evident in her tone…

Smiling, he wrapped his arm around her…”I’m fine…really…Slight headache…but nothing to…”

The small beeping sound stopped his sentence…

Email Received.

Lifting his laptop from his bedside table, he quickly opened the email…

“Security Footage Forwarded from Police….” Khushi began to read aloud…

Briskly turning the screen away from her, he quickly spoke…”No…No I don’t want you to see this…Just…just lay down and rest okay?”

She pursed her lips and straightened in defiance…”No. I am more involved in this than you are. I have a right to…”

“I said NO Khushi!”

Narrowing her eyes, she leaned in closer to his face…”Your yelling no longer intimidates me Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada!”

They sat glaring at each other for a few seconds before Arnav could no longer hold back his grin…

His mouth found hers without a miss.

Khushi began to press her body against him.

He grabbed her shoulders and set her away, staring down into her eyes.

“My God, I love you…” he said firmly…

Khushi glowed with pride…

She loved this man…

The way he made her feel.

The way he allowed her to feel.

The way he taught her to feel.

His eyes were stormy. Hot.

The tic in his jaw signaled his dwindling control; the control that was so important to him.

“I love you…so very much…NOW SHOW ME!” She commanded…

He hesitated for a moment, and finally sighed in resignation…”I didn’t want to upset you more, or bring back any memories that…”

She lifted her hand to his chest…”I have you back, you have me back…we are both safe…maybe we can learn something from the video…maybe pick up some clues as to where…where he may be hiding…”

Giving her mouth one final hard kiss, he wound his arm around her again and they began to watch the surveillance footage…

The video started…

The first 30 seconds were of the silent empty car park…

Only Cars…

No people…

Then they heard footsteps…

The first person to come into view was Shyam…

He was lurking around Arnav’s car…

Arnav tightened his hold around Khushi’s shoulders…

He looked at her to see if she was okay…

But soon their focus became glued to the laptop’s flickering screen…

Shyam spoke…

He wasn’t alone!

“So…what are you waiting for!”

They couldn’t make out the face of the man Shyam spoke to…

He was hiding behind the car…

Shyam spoke again…”I don’t care if the car is locked! Cut out the brakes! Meddle with the steering! Just do it!”

The man spoke…”You would be endangering everyone’s life…everyone in the car could…”

“I don’t care!” Shyam spat out…”I want Khushi…Alive or…”

Before Shyam finished his sentence, Arnav slammed his laptop shut, pushed it aside and yanked Khushi into his arms…

“My God…I threw you right in front of him…I…I…My God Khushi!”

Khushi clung to him…”I’m okay Arnavji…Nothing happened…

As arnav held her, he whispered…”Nothing will……”

Arnav’s phone began to ring…

He turned to see who it was…

Number withheld…

Khushi smiled slightly, “You answer it…I will go to shower…”

Before he answerd, he gently brushed his lips over hers…

“Hello?”

“Arnav?”

His jaw clenched.

Shyam.

“What do you want?” he growled

“I wanted to know if you finally got revenge?”

Arnav was about to yell obscenities at him, but then quickly realized that Shyam was unaware that his memory had returned…

“I…I haven’t…I still don’t know the full story…”

Shyam snickered…”Well…I’m at your office right now…Why don’t you come and I’ll explain it to you…but come alone…NO ONE is to be trusted…”

Disconnected.

Arnav sat wondering how Shyam got into his office…

And wondering how to proceed…

He called the police officer in charge and relayed all that had happened…

“If you can get a confession out of him, we can arrest him…Would you wear a wire?”

“Ofcourse! Anything! I just want him put away…TODAY!”

“Fine.” said the Sargeant…”Come by here first and then we will follow you secretly to your office and listen in…and once we have what we need, we will bust in.”

Khushi came out of the shower and saw that Arnav was no longer in their room…

She peeked outside their bedroom door and called out for him…

“Khushi?”

Payals voice echoed out…

“Jiji? You are home?”

“Yes, we just got home now…Arnavji didn’t leave until we arrived…”

“LEAVE?” Khushi said now feeling suspicious…

“Yes, he said he had to go to the office quickly…oh…but he didn’t want me to tell you…I’m sorry, I’m so tired…I haven’t slept for…” Payal yawned…”hours…”

Khushi smiled at Payal…”No problem Jiji, you go and sleep…”

“Okay Khushi…Akash is downstairs and said he will stay up until Arnavji gets home…”

Khushi nodded and shut her door…

“Arnavji has gone to his office? why? Why so suddenly?”

“Care to find out Mrs. Raizada?”

Khushi turned to see a large hefty man standing over her…

Before she could scream, the man covered her mouth with a strong smelling cloth and she felt the world turn black…

Arnav straightened his clothes, making sure the wire wasn’t squashed…

He entered his office…

The instant he did, his chair spun around and he saw Shyam…

“Arnav…I’m glad to see that you’ve come alone…”

“Well, seeing as I still don’t remember anything, I need answers from you…”

Arnav felt sick…all he wanted to do was grab this devil by the collar and beat him to death…but if this was the only way to get Shyam to confess with police listening in, he would do it…

“So…you still don’t remember anything…?”

Arnav shook his head…

Shyam smiled…”then I guess there is one more thing missing here…”


Arnav looked confused…”What are you talking about…?”

Shyam yelled towards the lower level…”Bring her up!”

Khushi woke up and quickly tried to focus…

“Where? Where am I?” she muttered…

“What, you don’t know your own husbands office building?” the man laughed as he stood in front of her…

Khushi stood up from the couch she was laying on…”How DARE you! Do you even know what you’ve done! My husband is HERE! In this building!!!”

“Oh, I know…He has come to meet with Shyam…”

Khushi’s eyes filled with panic…”What?”

“Oh yes…your two timing ways, end TODAY Mrs. Raizada…”

Arnav looked down in horror as he saw a man dragging a fighting Khushi up the stairs…

He looked over at Shyam feeling murderous fury boiling inside him…

“What!? How!?”

“Arnav…Your wife is definitely making it hard on us…” Shyam smirked…”I brought her here so we could finish the job…”

The moment Khushi was within reach, Shyam grabbed her arm and pulled her beside him…

The man that had brought her up, now sat down on Arnav’s chair, ready to watch the show…

Arnav stepped forward with his hand outstretched…

“Arnav…Any last words to her?” Shyam leered…

Arnav knew that the police were listening…and he needed to get the confession out…NOW..

He started to pace forward…”And so you’re just going to let her collapse to the ground…?”

Khushi looked at Arnav completely horrified…

“Ar…Arnavji?” her pleading voice nearly broke his facade…

“Quiet!” Arnav said, not even looking at her…

Khushi was terrified…”What?! What have you done to him Shyamji!!!!!!!!”

Shyam smiled…”See Khushiji…You cheat on someone, and they will go to ANY lengths to make you PAY!”

And with his foot Shyam kicked the office window open and with one final push, he shoved Khushi out, ready to watch her drop…

Arnav lunged forward and clutched Khushi’s hand before she fell…

His head was pulsing with electric currents…

Bright lights were flashing before his eyes…

He was holding onto Khushi’s hand…

If his fingers slipped even an inch, she would plummet off the edge…and this time nothing would break her fall…

Shyam’s scream echoed throughout the empty office building…”LET HER FALL!!! LET GO OF HER HAND! SHE DESERVES IT!!!”

Arnav’s mind exploded with rage…

He looked at Khushi’s tightly shut eyes…

Her tear drenched face…

Her trembling lips…

Why weren’t the Police coming in yet!

“LET HER GO!” Shyam bellowed….

Arnav gripped Khushi’s hand fiercely…”NO!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN’T LET HER GO!”

Khushi’s eyes flew open…

Arnav’s gaze bore into hers…

She saw his eyes…

She saw her husbands eyes…

Shyam was about to charge towards them, when the Police finally burst into the room…

Arnav roughly pulled Khushi to his chest and backed far away from the edge…

He spun her around and propelled the weight of his body onto hers as they crashed against the opposite glass wall…

His hands came up to her face…”Shhh….Shh sweetheart…it’s over…Shhh…”

Khushi coudln’t stop her sobs…

“No…no…jaan…” Arnav knew she had to let it all out, but it was suffocating his heart…

“I’m sorry…I’m so sorry…Khushi…I didn’t know what else to do…” he talked as fast as he could…”It was Shyam who called me, and asked me to meet him here…I called the police to come and listen to his confession…they’ve arrested him for attempted murder…he’s gone! no more sweetheart…Khushi…Shhhh…”

Khushi couldn’t catch her breath…

Her heart was racing…

“Mr Raizada…”

Arnav’s eyes stay on Khushi as he spoke…”what!?”

“We have both men…Come to the station to make a statement as soon as you can…”

“Fine…”

Now left alone, Arnav was wondering if he did the right thing…

Khushi was shaking in fear, sobbing with sadness, and he was unable to calm her…
